Performing Arts and Dance Company Audition Information
DK Dancers, Parents, and Performing Arts Company Students:
Thank you for your interest in our St Louis Performing Arts Dance Company !
DK Dance School and all of us here at DK Dance Productions looks forward to an incredible year…a 2012-2013 season of fun, excitement, learning, and growth! DK Dance and Performing Arts Academy has several important new requirements, which are necessary to foster a more professional dance and performing arts school. This means accountability is key and essential to an efficiently managed and wonderfully happy dance journey for all!
A respected professional dance instructor and mentor once explained that when we “write something down ” or “read it aloud” or “memorialize” it in some tangible medium of expression, it becomes real…Our mutual commitment in having the best dance studio in and around St Louis County means we start by knowing what is expected of all of us. Planting this seed promotes accountability, which is the root of achieving and living our dreams!
Parents are expected to read, discuss with their dancer(s) , sign and return the following agreement by auditions, Tuesday, July 3, 2012.
There is a mandatory meeting for parents of students wishing to audition for the 2012-2013 Performing Companies on Saturday, June 23rd at the Studio. You must be present at this meeting otherwise you child will not be eligible to audition.
If students are interested in competing as a soloist or part of a duo or trio, they must select an instructor to choreograph their routine. These routines will be eligible for any competition the studio attends; however, the student will perform only at one show during the recital.
The DK Dance Productions Faculty will judge the Performing Company auditions. Judges will be determining group placement. The decision of the judges will be emailed to each student by Monday, July 9th at 5pm with recommendations for other competitive classes. These results are final. Summer will not be a probationary period for the classes. YOUR CHILD’S PLACEMENT WILL BE FINAL AFTER AUDITIONS.
Registration after auditions will be Saturday, July 14th from 11:00am – 3:00pm. You will need to come in during this time to register for the summer classes that you will be taking.
Please remember that being a part of the DK Dance Productions Performing Arts Companies is a privilege, not a right. Because a child is a certain age, size, or has been in a particular class or company for a certain amount of time, DOES NOT guarantee placement in a Company. Placement is based on attendance, technique, dance ability, sportsmanship, poise and personality.
If a child is placed in a particular company and has difficulty acclimating to the class, the parents will be notified of the issues. This may require placement in a lower level company, private instruction or extra technique classes.
It is very important to us to keep in constant communication with the studio families. By letting you know ahead of time what is required to be a part of this select and prestigious group, we feel this will eliminate problems in the upcoming year.

6:30 – 7:15 – Rising Stars (Studio 1)
7:15 – 8:00 – Shooting Stars (Studio 1)
8:00 – 8:45 – Poms 1 and Poms 2 (Studio 1)
8:45 – 9:30 – Elite Hip Hop
